Hold Yourself Accountable

We’ve all been there. Someone breaks a promise to us—and we feel it.

We get frustrated. Disappointed. Even angry.

We want to remind them exactly what they said, when they said it, and how they were supposed to follow through. Because when someone lets us down, we feel it.

But here’s a harder truth:

Do you hold yourself to that same standard?

When was the last time you checked yourself on a broken promise?

You promised to lose weight.

You promised to get stronger.

You said you’d work out three, four, maybe even five times a week.

You promised to get back into that outfit you used to love, to finally take control of your health.

So, I ask again—

What happened to those promises?

Did you break them?

If someone else had let you down like that, you’d be quick to check them.

But when it comes to you, you might let it slide.

You say, “I’ve been busy,” or “I’ll start next week,” or “Life got in the way.”

Sound familiar?

The Bible says in Matthew 7:3:

“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?”

That verse hits different when you apply it to your goals.

Because truthfully, the biggest person you need to hold accountable… is staring back at you in the mirror.

So here’s the challenge:

Write your goals down.

Read them every day.

Treat them like promises—not just dreams.

And hold yourself to them like your future depends on it.

Because it does.

You don’t need perfection. You need consistency.

You need to show up.

You need to give yourself the same energy you give others when they let you down.

You owe yourself that.
